NaNoPloMo?

It's that time of year again, when writers shutter their blogs, lock their doors, resist Internet distractions and buckle down for National Novel Writing Month - NaNoWriMo.

I've never been much of a NaNo girl, mostly because my schedule makes it pretty impossible to keep up. This year, I did want to try something different though. Something I'm calling NaNoPloMo. Or, National Novel Plotting Month.

See, I'm just wrapping up my current WIP, and I've got ideas for at least two others that I want to tackle next year. I want to spend November nailing all the details and putting the pieces together at least a little more completely, so I can get right down to writing the new stuff in 2013.

Those are my month's goals. What are yours?

November Posting Plan
Also, you'll notice a bit of a change in posting come November. I know a lot of people take a pause from blogging for NaNo, but I also know that not everyone is doing NaNo and those folks will still be cruising the blogosphere.

Here's the plan: A couple times a week, I'll be posting "Inspiration/Resource" posts. They'll be short and hopefully helpful. Each one will highlight:

1) A writing resource I love, and
2) A source of inspiration, like a book quote or song.

That way, even if you're checking in quick from NaNo you might discover a few new tools.

Good luck!

  2. I'm in the middle of NaNoPlanMo right now. Staying busy. And yet, it's still the calm before the storm. I still haven't quite decided what I'd do about posts yet for November.

  3. NaNoPloMo sounds like a great idea! Currently I'm sort of in the middle of one myself, trying to get the details ready for what I will write in November, though two ideas are battling it out atm.
I love inspirational posts as well so I will certainly be checking in during my limited internet time :)

  5. I have never participated in NaNoWriMo. I can't bear the thought of stressing myself out like that. The holidays are coming up, so I'll be playing it by ear for the next couple of months. :)

    1. You're a wise woman. De-stressing is a great choice!

  6. Good luck for Nanoplomo! I've been trying to that with my October, as preparation for Nanowrimo, but it's harder when you can't set the same concrete goal of 1667 words a day. Do you have any tips you'll be using to motivate yourself? What kind of daily goals are you going to set?

    1. I know that I want to be ready to start drafting two new WIPs for 2013, so one of my big goals is that connect the major plot points that have been rolling around in my head for those pieces.

  7. I don't do NaNo either. I know lots of people will be shuttering their blogging doors for November, but I'll be open for business. Still plugging away on my WIP a page at a time.

  8. Great that you're planning ahead! I love planning ahead.

I don't participate in NaNo either so I'll still be cruising around the blogosphere. I know the online writing community silences during NaNo but it's still quite busy.

    Good luck! :)

  9. The way things are going I'll be having NaNoPloDay on 31st Oct! I'm mostly a pantser but I like at least a basic framework and I'm going to need that for NaNo.

I'll probably do weekly posts rounding up my progress (or lack of?) and letting off steam.
