Characters of Inspiration

We all know writers can pull inspiration from just about anywhere, and movies are a great source.

Below, in no particular order, are some of the characters that have sparked my imagination repeatedly over the years:

How about you? Do you have any favorites?

  1. Astin's speech in The Goonies was pretty awesome (to be fair, everything about that movie was awesome).

  2. Oh, I just realized that my inspirations come mostly from animated charaters. Kind of scary, really.

  3. I loved the Goonies! lol

All great charaacters. I loved Mr. Darcy at the end of the recent version of Pride & Prejudice. When he said "I love, love you", I actually believed it.

  4. I went straight to the sexy chick in a zombie movie. I need to retrain my brain:s Although for romance, at least in my book, nothing beats Charlie Chaplin' s character in City Lights. The end of that film gets me every time.

  5. Andy Dufresne, from Shawshank Redemption, was the first character in my head. I never tire of watching that movie.

  6. It ate my first comment. I'll just add Indiana Jones from Raiders.

  7. I still love The Road Warrior and Braveheart, despite the ass who stars in them. Both of those movies inspire what I'm writing now. Weird, I know, but it is set in post-apocalyptic Wales. :))

  8. Jamie - Goonies-fan high fives!

    T - Haha, don't worry. I have some of those too. :)

    Miranda - Good one!

Emily - Isn't it great when characters and scenes stick with us like that?

    Jenn - Nice addition.

Alex - Sorry about the comment monster. I adore Indy! There's a chance I might still want to BE him. :)

L.G. - Braveheart is near the top of my list too!

  9. Watching Pride and Prejudice inspires me, but none of the characters fit in my world. :/

I don't generally watch shows/movies in the same genre I write (there aren't that many fantasy shows/movies), and usually when I watch TV I'm tired or really bored, so I'm not really in the mindset to be inspired. When I read it's a different story.
