Learned: I remember feeling intrigued throughout, even though I wasn’t overly impressed with the writing. It’s a good example of the plot being unique enough to carry a rather mediocre story.
J – Jumper
Loved: So, I got this book because a family friend did special effects for the movie version. It was a little reminiscent of an edgier, moody version of Ender’s Game, without that level of brilliance. The jumping between cities was fun. It’s also the only official “J” on my shelf!

I haven't read this, but did see the movie which I thought was decent. Maybe I'll give the book a try. :)
ReplyDeleteNicole,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review - and for stopping by - I appreciate the comments :)
I enjoyed that movie very much.
ReplyDeleteI watched the movie and then read the book - and the book is most definitely better! It's a shame that the second book, Reflex, can't be made into a movie - because the changes for the first movie (multiple jumpers) mean that the whole premise of Reflex is ruined. Oh, and I liked Jumper:Griffin's Story, too!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteGreat to hear from Amy above that the book is better than the movie, and the second one, too. The premise intrigued me with the movie, but didn't satisfy me - I may have to try the books!
ReplyDeleteI liked the movie and always thought they'd make a sequel. I guess not. Hmmmmm??
ReplyDeleteOr it's just taking a reeeeaaally long time. :)
DeleteI'm in trouble; haven't seen that movie or read that book yet. I'm slow, I know, but I'll get there. :)
ReplyDeleteAs long as you don't start going backward. :)
DeleteFascinating. I think I will read Enders Game first though. Isn't it ridiculous that I haven't read it yet? Don't answer. I know it is! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely read Ender's Game first. That one is a classic for sure!
DeleteI've only seen parts of the movie, so I guess I should just start with Ender's Game. I've heard many great things about, just never checked it out. Thanks for the reminder! :)
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie with my husband on Valentine's day when it was out, it is a good movie. I bought the book a while ago to see how the writer described the amazing action and "jumping," but I havn't been able to get into the book as much as the movie. Ender's Game, is a book I'd reccomend to anyone! :)
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie and thought the premise was interesting. Now that I know it was based on a book, I'll have to check that out...
